Clay Coffee FAQs

General FAQs

  1. What types of classes do you offer? At Clay Studio, we offer a variety of pottery classes suitable for all skill levels. From wheel-throwing to hand-building, our classes cater to different preferences and interests. We also offer "pottery parties", which give you the chance to try both hand-building and wheel-throwing in a slightly longer class.
  2. Do I need any experience to join a class? Not at all! Most of our classes are designed to accommodate everyone, from beginners to experienced potters. Our skilled instructors provide guidance tailored to your skill level. There are a few "advanced" classes, including "throwing big" for wheel, which you can book if you're looking to fine-tune your skills!
  3. How do I sign up for a class? You can easily sign up for a class through our website or by visiting our studio. Browse through our class offerings, choose your preferred date and time, and follow the simple registration process.
  4. Can I purchase a class as a gift for someone else? Absolutely! We offer gift cards that make for a perfect pottery experience present. You can purchase them on our website or at our studio. We are more than happy to update the name and email of your order to that of your recipient.
  5. Is there an age limit for your classes? While our classes are generally suitable for adults, we do offer specific classes for children - please reach out via our contact form to organise a class specifically for kids!
  6. What should I wear to a pottery class? Wear something comfortable and easy to move in. We do provide aprons, but we encourage you to wear clothes that you don't mind getting a little dirty. Please also make sure to bring a hair-tie for longer hair to ensure it can stay out of your face. We provide all necessary materials and tools.
  7. Can I keep what I make in the class? Absolutely! Once your masterpiece is fired and ready, you can take it home with you to showcase your newfound pottery skills.
  8. How can I stay updated on upcoming classes and events? Sign up for emails on our website for an early heads up on new workshops and courses, or follow us on Instagram (@Clay_ _Coffee) for news on special events!

      Cancellation Policy & Missing Classes

      1. What is your cancellation policy for workshops and courses? We understand that plans can change. Our policy allows you to cancel with a full refund up to a week before the class. If you need to cancel within a week, we will no longer refund you for the class, but can help you transfer your reservation to a friend or someone else interested in joining on your behalf. If you would like to transfer the class to a friend, pleas notify us before the day of the class.
      2. What is your cancellation policy for memberships? Memberships start on the first day of each month and will auto-renew unless cancelled. If you'd like to cancel your membership, please reach out via email before the first day of the next month.
      3. Can I transfer my reservation to another person if I can't attend? Absolutely! We encourage you to transfer your reservation to a friend or someone else who would love to experience our pottery classes. Just let us know in advance, and we'll make the necessary arrangements.
      4. What if I can't make all of the scheduled dates for a multi-week course? We unfortunately no longer offer the option for makeup classes, as our courses are usually full and we can't guarantee a makeup spot. Please make sure you can attend all classes within a course before making your booking.

      Studio FAQs

      1. Can I rent the kiln or pay for firing outside pieces? Unfortunately we are not supporting kiln-rental or firing for non studio pieces as our capacity is very limited.
      2. Can I bring in my own clay? At the moment we are working with set types of clay since we know how they fire and it makes our recycling process more seamless. We may be open to this in the future, but not at this time. We do offer clay for purchase in our store - we sell these in 1kg, 2.5kg, 5kg, and 10kg quantities.

If you have any other questions or need more info, feel free to reach our via our contact form. We look forward to welcoming you to Clay Coffee Pottery Studio!
